Launching the Consultation Service: A Lesson in Persistence and Value
Perhaps the most challenging yet rewarding experience was launching my consultation service. The initial silence after the launch was nerve-wracking - I remember going to bed that first day feeling discouraged when no bookings came through. But everything changed the next morning when I received my first paid booking! The excitement was indescribable - someone had actually paid for my knowledge!
This journey taught me two valuable lessons. First, about the power of trust-building - the months spent sharing knowledge and helping others created a foundation of credibility that made people willing to invest in personalized guidance. Second, about the value of expertise - what seems obvious to you might be invaluable to others.
I discovered that while free content serves a purpose, there's real value in personalized expertise. When people DM me now, I direct them to my blog for general information, but offer paid consultations for tailored guidance. This approach has led to helping over 10 clients map out their path to living in Korea. Remember, while blogs and guides provide general advice, people often seek real-life experience and personalized solutions - and that's worth compensating.
Personal Milestones and Adventures
Beyond professional achievements, 2024 was filled with significant personal milestones that enriched my journey:
- Successfully navigated my first visa extension in Korea

- Experienced Japan as a tourist, gaining fresh perspective on being a foreigner in Korea
- Took my girlfriend to my home country Germany, where I saw my homeland through her eyes and learned to appreciate things I had taken for granted growing up
- Embraced the digital nomad lifestyle with my first workation in Busan, combining remote work with coastal city exploration
These experiences have not only enriched my personal life but also deepened my understanding of cross-cultural experiences and the unique challenges and joys of expatriate life.

The upcoming year holds exciting possibilities. I'm planning to:
