Introduction
Let me tell you about my experience with seasons in Korea. You know how everyone says Korea has four seasons? Well, living here has totally changed my perspective - I'd say it's more like 2.2 seasons! Let me break it down for you.
Here's the thing: while Korea technically has all four seasons, they're not evenly split at all. You basically get these super long summers and winters, with these tiny little "perfect weather" windows during spring and fall that last maybe 2-3 weeks if you're lucky!
It's early May, and BAM! Suddenly you're hit with this wall of heat and humidity that sticks around until September. And just when you think you're getting used to it, July shows up with its rainy season! Don't get me started on the mosquitoes! No matter how many mosquito nets you put up or how well you seal your windows, they'll find a way in. It's like they have a secret map of your house!
❄️ Winter Is No Joke
Then November rolls around, and it's like nature flips a switch. We're not talking about cute little zero-degree temperatures here - we're talking -10 to -15 degrees! The kind of cold where you take a breath and think, "Wow, even my lungs are freezing!" It's pretty intense!
🌸🍂Those Magical In-Between Moments
Now, spring is absolutely gorgeous when it happens. You're coming out of this freezing winter, and suddenly there are cherry blossoms everywhere! It's like the whole city transforms into this pink and white wonderland. Just beautiful!
And fall? It's fantastic! You finally get a break from that sticky summer heat, and the temperatures become just perfect. If you're into hiking (which you totally should be), head to Bukhansan trail, the autumn colors will blow your mind!
So When Should You Visit?
If you're planning a trip to Korea and want my honest advice? Aim for either late April to early May, or late September to early October. That's when you'll catch those perfect little windows of amazing weather.
