Introduction
If you have been to Korea but never tried Korea's Fried Chicken (KFC), you have missed out! Korea has perfected fried chicken, and I don't know if any country could ever catch up! Fried Chicken has become a culture in Korea! It’s hard to explain how much better Fried Chicken can taste in Korea. Once you have experienced the taste of the crispiness and tenderness of perfected Korean Fried Chicken, it’s hard to go back to your normal KFC.
When you hang out with friends at the Han River, that's when you have chicken. If you have an after-work party, that's when you have chicken. If you are at home and feel like eating something, that's when you have chicken!
The best combination that goes with chicken in Korea is beer, which is why they even have a word for that:
Fried chicken became popular in Korea during the late 20th century. Initially introduced by American soldiers during the Korean War, it quickly gained a foothold among locals. Korean chefs adapted the recipe, adding unique spices and sauces, creating a distinct flavor profile that resonated with the Korean palate. Over time, fried chicken became more than just a meal; it evolved into a cultural phenomenon, often enjoyed with beer as a social activity. The combination of crispy chicken and cold beer, known as Chi-Mac, has since become a staple in Korean culinary culture, celebrated in festivals like the Chicken & Beer Festival in Daegu.
